McAndrews Held & Malloy Attorney Dr. George Wu Honored with Service Award from MCASTA

McAndrews, Held & Malloy Associate Dr. George Wu was recently honored with an award for his service to the Chinese American community in the greater St. Louis area by the Midwest Chinese American Science & Technology Association (MCASTA). Dr. Wu was presented with the service award at MCASTA’s 2015 annual symposium in September.

Dr. Wu has been an active member of MCASTA, serving on the board and as a member of the Program Steering Committee for the annual symposium since 2011. He also acted as program co-chair in 2013. Dr. Wu spearheaded collaborative meetings between the St. Louis community and Taiwan agencies/organizations. He has also worked closely with the St. Louis Post Dispatch to bring awareness and news of the Chinese community and MCASTA’s scholarly activities.

According to MCASTA, Dr. Wu’s contributions to MCASTA and the St. Louis communities are “invaluable and have made significant impact over the last few years.”

Based in St. Louis, MCASTA is an association providing professional forums and networking opportunities for Chinese American scientists, engineers, scholars, professionals and other communities in the Midwest. Objectives include exchanging scientific and technological information across the U.S. and abroad, encouraging collaboration in science and tech research and development, and providing community services in health, education and cultural awareness. Each year, MCASTA hosts an annual symposium, which focuses on a particular subject of science and technology.

Dr. George Wu, Esq., is well-versed in all areas of intellectual property law, with particular emphasis on biomedical-related subject matters. With a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Wu counsels clients in the biotechnology, pharmaceutical and medical device industries regarding patent applications and prosecutions, and trademark and copyright registrations. He also represents clients in inter partes reviews at the Patent Trial and Appeal Board, Section 337 actions before the International Trade Commission, and IP litigations at the federal district courts. Dr. Wu is fluent in Chinese and represents clients that conduct business primarily in Asia, as well as Asian clients looking to do business in the United States.
