McAndrews, Held & Malloy Elevates Three Partners, One Associate

CHICAGO, IL – March 11, 2015 McAndrews, Held & Malloy, Ltd., which ranks among the nation’s most highly regarded intellectual property and complex technology law firms, recently announced Partners Wayne H. Bradley, Stephanie F. Samz and Christopher P. Singer’s, Ph.D., appointments to the firm’s Board of Directors. In addition, Associate Guy W. Barcelona, Jr., was elevated to Partner.

The new Board members are:

Wayne H. Bradley, a wireless communications expert who focuses on patent prosecution, due diligence and litigation. Given his technical background and deep experience with patent prosecution and commercial applications, Bradley is able to maximize patent protection and patent value for his clients. Prior to joining McAndrews, Bradley developed commercial products for the cellular industry, working at Motorola and PrairieComm, a fabless semiconductor company. Bradley holds 12 patents related to cellular technology and has been involved in the prosecution of more than 100 patent applications.

Stephanie F. Samz, who has extensive experience in patent litigation, review proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board, and counseling. Her practice focuses mainly on patent litigation, with an emphasis on litigation involving medical devices and technologies. Samz has focused her practice on handling large-scale patent disputes, including comprehensive pre-suit investigations, trial strategy, all aspects of discovery, motion practice and oral hearings before the court.  Samz also has been involved in numerous appeals before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, where she efficiently drafts appellate briefs and helps to effectively prepare for oral arguments. She is the recipient of the University of Illinois College of Law’s Rickert Awards for Excellence in Legal Writing and Excellence in Academics, the most prestigious and extensive award program at the College of Law.

Christopher P. Singer, Ph.D., who concentrates his practice on securing patent rights in life science technologies, such as biotechnology, chemistry, pharmaceuticals and medical devices. His experience includes patent prosecution and global patent portfolio management, as well as due diligence, patent validity and infringement, freedom-to-operate, technology landscape and patentability analyses. Dr. Singer provides counsel to a variety of clients including global pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, national universities, international chemical companies, as well as start-up companies and individual inventors. He holds a Ph.D. in chemistry, and his patent prosecution expertise extends over a broad range of biological and chemical technologies.

The new McAndrews Partner is:

Guy W. Barcelona, Jr., who first joined the firm as a law clerk in 2009, and has since gained significant experience in patent, trademark, copyright and trade secret litigation, covering a variety of technological and business areas. Barcelona is focused in particular on electronics and computer technology. His previous experience at Electro-Motive Diesel helps him better understand the challenges of bringing a new product to market, as well as the intellectual property concerns of a worldwide manufacturer.
