McAndrews, Held & Malloy Partner Malaika D. Tyson Appointed to the Board of the Chicago Committee

McAndrews, Held & Malloy partner Malaika D. Tyson was recently named a Board Member of the Chicago Committee. The Chicago Committee’s Board of Directors is comprised of 16-20 partners and in-house counsel from large law firms and corporate legal departments across Chicagoland. The Chicago Committee seeks racial and ethnic diversity in the legal profession by collaborating with its law firm and corporate membership to drive sustainable institutional change at law firms and corporate legal departments, provide professional development, and cultivate the community of minority lawyers through programming and leadership opportunities.

“I am honored for this opportunity to serve on the Board of Directors of The Chicago Committee,” said Tyson. “As a Board member, I will continue to strive to promote the advancement of minorities in the legal profession and be an advocate for diversity.”

Tyson joined McAndrews, Held & Malloy as a law clerk in 2009 and as a full-time associate in 2011. Her practice focuses on corporate IP strategies including patent prosecution, competitive IP analysis, and portfolio management mainly in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries.

Tyson received her J.D. from The University of Chicago Law School and earned her Ph.D. in Chemistry from Purdue University. Before joining McAndrews, she worked at Sigma-Aldrich Biotechnology as a Senior Research and Development Scientist in the Proteomics group. Tyson was the first recipient of the McAndrews Diversity in Patent Law Fellowship.
