McAndrews Shareholder Alejandro Menchaca Appointed to the MIT Alumni Association Board of Directors

McAndrews, Held & Malloy Shareholder Alejandro Menchaca was recently appointed to the Board of Directors of the MIT Alumni Association. As a Board Member, Menchaca will oversee, advise and assist with the work of the association in regards to MIT and its alumni, as well as help determine its priorities.

“It is has been a privilege to be a part of the MIT Alumni Association and now I’m honored to serve in a leadership role,” said Menchaca. “I look forward to working with the other board members to continue to keep our alumni engaged and active members of the MIT community.”

Members of the MIT Alumni Association’s Board of Directors work closely with the association’s Executive Vice President and CEO to set policies consistent with MIT policies and procedures. They also are responsible for coordinating fundraising through its appointed committee, the MIT Annual Fund Board. The board’s ultimate goal is to strengthen the alumni tie to MIT through providing services and resources to those in different stages of life and across the globe.

At McAndrews, Menchaca’s practice is focused on every element of trademark, patent and related law. His vast experience in litigation, and prosecution of patents and trademarks, has helped him become an influential expert within the fields. His primary focus at the firm are advising clients on ANDA litigation and counselling.

In addition to his work with McAndrews, Menchaca is an Adjunct Professor at the John Marshall Law School in Chicago and has taught Patent and Trade Secrets Law, Unfair Competition and Consumer Protection, International Intellectual Property Law and Patent Prosecution through the school’s Intellectual Property LLM Program. He also served as an Adjunct Professor teaching Intellectual Property Licensing at the Loyola University School of Law. Menchaca graduated from MIT with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering.
