McAndrews, Held & Malloy, Ltd. Adds Seven New Associates to Firm

CHICAGO, IL – December 11, 2003 – McAndrews, Held & Malloy, Ltd., one of the nation’s preeminent law firms specializing in intellectual property and complex technology law, today announced the addition of seven new associates, each of which possess a law degree and a bachelor’s degree or higher in the engineering, technology, chemistry or related science fields.

New associates at McAndrews, Held & Malloy include the following:
Brian C. Bianco graduated cum laude from the University of Illinois College of Law, and is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. He also received a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering from the University of Illinois. Prior to joining McAndrews, Held & Malloy, Bianco gained significant work experience at Henneman, Raufeisen and Associates, providing design assistance on engineering projects, and at Commonwealth Edison, where he conducted research on microwave communications towers.
Christopher R. Carroll graduated cum laude from the University of Illinois College of Law, and graduated with honors from the University of Illinois College of Engineering with a bachelor of science degree in materials science and engineering. He is also registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Prior to joining McAndrews, Held & Malloy, Carroll held positions at the Intel Corporation, MEMC Electronic Materials and Spinnaker Semiconductor, where he gained extensive experience in the area of semiconductor processing.
Merle S. Elliott graduated magna cum laude from the Georgetown University Law Center, and summa cum laude from Cornell University with a bachelor of science degree in chemical engineering. She is also registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Prior to joining McAndrews, Held & Malloy, Merle worked as an analytical chemist at 3M Corporation, where she acquired experience in infrared spectroscopy.
Consuelo G. Erwin graduated magna cum laude from the University of Illinois College of Law. She also graduated cum laude from Illinois State University with a bachelor of science degree in chemistry. Prior to joining McAndrews, Held & Malloy, Erwin gained valuable work experience in laboratory testing, scientific research, and technical writing while working as a chemist at the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency, Cabot Corporation, and APL Engineered Materials.
Peter J. Prommer graduated magna cum laude from the University of Illinois College of Law, where he also studied for one semester at the Bucerius Law School in Hamburg, Germany. Prommer also graduated with honors from the University of Illinois with a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering. He continued his engineering studies at Northwestern University and graduated with a master’s of science degree. Prommer, who is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office, gained significant experience working as an engineering consultant with the Chicago office of GeoSyntec Consultants, prior to joining McAndrews, Held & Malloy. At GeoSyntec, he was involved in engineering design, litigation support, forensic evaluation and environmental permitting for clients in the manufacturing, petroleum, solid waste and legal fields.
Christopher M. Scharff graduated cum laude from Cornell Law School and is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. He also graduated with a bachelor of science degree in materials science and engineering from Northwestern University. Prior to joining McAndrews, Held & Malloy, Scharff worked as a laboratory researcher for Vitriseal Coatings, Inc., where he assisted in the development of new corrosion-resistant coatings. He also participated in Northwestern University’s materials-design program, which explores various computer modeling methods for designing new alloys and composites.
Philip H. Sheridan graduated cum laude from The John Marshall Law School. He also graduated from the University of Iowa with a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering. Prior to joining McAndrews, Held & Malloy, Sheridan gained significant work experience at Huen Electric, where he designed circuit layouts for commercial building bids, estimated project costs and participated in various field installations.
