	04/08/2005 McAndrews, Held & Malloy Attorney Featured Speaker at Chicago Bar Association Meeting
	CHICAGO, IL – April 8, 2005 – Yufeng Ma of McAndrews, Held & Malloy, Ltd., one of the nation’s preeminent law firms specializing in intellectual property and complex technology law, was a featured speaker at The Chicago Bar Association’s April 7 presentation entitled “Scaling the Chinese Wall: Overcoming IP and Investment Obstacles When Doing Business in China.” Please click here to view a PDF of the presentation. Ma addressed the developing intellectual property protections for U.S. companies in China and suggested strategies to enforce intellectual property rights in this legally uncharted land. Specifically, Ma addressed the following questions: Should Midwestern firms sell to, contract production in, or establish joint ventures in China? What legal protections are there for intellectual property in China? For a U.S. company licensing its technology to China, what are the best strategies to protect the intellectual property? How to enforce intellectual property rights in China? Ma is admitted to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office under 37 CFR §10.9(b). Before coming to the United States to study law, Ma trained to be an intellectual property attorney in China. He graduated summa cum laude from Peking University with a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry and a Bachelor of Law degree. Upon his graduation from Peking University, Ma was selected by the United News Group of Taiwan as one of only two students in China to be awarded the Wang Tiwu Fellowship to study law in the United States.
