	11/11/2006 McAndrews, Held & Malloy Attorney Mirut Dalal Honored By Chicago Volunteer Legal Services Foundation - Pro Bono Work Supports Indo-American Center Legal Clinic
	CHICAGO, IL – Nov. 10, 2006 – Mirut P. Dalal, a partner at McAndrews, Held & Malloy, has received the Chicago Volunteer Legal Services Foundation’s (CVLS) 2006 Distinguished Service Award for his pro bono work with the Cyriac D. Kappil Legal Clinic at CVLS’s Indo-American Center. Dalal, who provides legal services to low-income Chicagoans through the Clinic, also is the first vice president and president-elect of the Indian American Bar Association of Chicago. He received the award at a Nov. 9 CVLS ceremony. CVLS offers quality legal services to low-income Chicagoans who could not otherwise afford access to legal services. The organization’s team of more than 2,000 volunteers provides clients with representation in "everyday" civil issues such as adoption, child support, powers of attorney and consumer contracts. CVLS is fully funded by the private sector. A registered patent attorney, Dalal has written numerous patents in diverse areas including wireless telecommunications, computer software and hardware, fiber optics, Internet technologies, e-commerce and biomedical devices. Recently, Mirut has helped companies patent technology, primarily involving audio-video compression, resulting from research and development outsourced to India.
