Anna Targowska, recipient of The Best Electrical Engineering Senior Award from Northwestern University, focuses her practice on high-stakes patent litigation involving electronic and semiconductor devices.

Targowska is heavily engaged in developing case strategies from the onset of litigation though trial. She has represented both defendants and plaintiffs during various stages of complex litigation. Her invalidity and non-infringement analysis of a family of patents directed to electronic device communication systems led to a favorable settlement of one of the firm’s high-profile cases. Given her extensive background in electrical engineering, Targowska provides targeted and effective solutions to her clients.  She is well-known for turning over a newly filed suit against her client into a voluntary dismissal in the course of a few days.

Targowska continues to invest in her skills as a trial attorney though pro bono practice.  She was the lead counsel on a pro-bono matter where she briefed and argued a summary judgment motion and has taken the case on appeal.

As a registered patent attorney, Targowska is well-versed with United Sates Patent Office and Patent Trial and Appeal Board procedures. She represents clients before the USPTO and PTAB, including inter partes review involving electronic and semiconductor technologies.  Earlier in her career, Targowska drafted and prosecuted numerous patent applications.  Her broad experience allows her to provide concise advice on IP portfolio management, IP expansion planning and complex due-diligence matters.

Prior to joining McAndrews, Targowska also excelled in her studies.  She graduated cum laude from the Chicago-Kent College of Law as a recipient of a full-tuition Merit Scholarship for all three years. Targowska's focus on litigation was evident through her participation in a two semester trial advocacy program where she completed numerous mock jury trials assessed by practicing judges and attorneys.

Targowska received The Best Electrical Engineering Senior Award when she graduated magna cum laude from Northwestern University in Electrical Engineering as the number one student in the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Department.  Her achievements were also recognized internationally and, upon graduation, she accepted The William L. Everitt Award of Excellence in Electrical Engineering for outstanding contributions to the Electrical Engineering industry.  Targowska’s extraordinary skills allowed her to be a member of several elite societies, including Etta Kappa NU Electrical Engineering Honor Society, the National Dean’s List and the National Scholars Honor Society.  While at Northwestern, she focused her studies on electronics, digital signal processing, control systems, computer architecture, robotics, data networks, and wired and wireless communications. Targowska completed each semester of her electrical engineering studies with high honors.

Targowska also gained industry experience as part of her undergraduate studies by designing and implementing electronic devices and by participating in an honors program culminating with a thesis in the area of digital image and signal processing.  She also served as a systems engineer for an entertainment media company, where she designed and implemented database systems and software applications in C++, C#, .NET, JAVA, SQL.
