McAndrews Elects New Partner, Chad Stroud

McAndrews, Held & Malloy is pleased to announce the election of Chad Stroud to Partner, effective March 1. Stroud specializes in intellectual property law, including patent prosecution and patent and trademark litigation. He also has significant experience providing patent validity, freedom to operate, and patent infringement analyses.

“Chad has extensive expertise in the chemical and life sciences,” said McAndrews President Bob Surrette. “”With a Ph.D. and significant post-doctoral work in his background, along with impressive contributions to our clients’ work, he is indicative of the type of exceptional talent who choose to practice at our firm.”

He received a B.A. and M.S. in Chemistry from Southern Illinois University and a Ph.D. in Nutritional Sciences from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He graduated magna cum laude from the University of Illinois College of Law, where he won awards in patent law and IP moot court.

Before joining McAndrews, Stroud held post-doctorate positions at the University of Waterloo in Ontario, Canada, where he examined the effects of flaxseed lignans on gene transcription related to lipid metabolism, and at L’Université de Bourgogne in Dijon, France where he researched breast cancer in genetically modified mice to elucidate mechanisms of omega-3 fatty acid protection.
