Sharon Hwang to Speak during PLI Advanced PTAB Trial Strategies Webcast on September 9

Sharon Hwang will speak during the Practising Law Institute’s live webcast, Advanced Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) Trial Strategies 2020, on Wednesday, September 9 at 11:30 eastern. She will co-lead the session, “Administrative Trial Advocacy in PTAB Patent Proceedings: Oral Argument, Briefing, Technical Audiences, Standards of Review,” which will address the following topics:
- The virtual PTAB: What have we learned from the PTAB in the age of virtual arguments, depositions, and social distancing? Putting your best foot forward, remotely.
- Arguing before the Board: Do’s and don’ts of oral advocacy before the expert agency. Working demonstratives and cross-examination testimony; focusing on what matters.
- Supplementing the record: When is an issue ripe for additional briefing, further submissions, or Board attention. Strategic use of rehearings.
- Preparing for appeal: Structuring the record and preserving positions. Substantial evidence cases and the CAFC, getting to a de novo review.
