Michael S. Tomsa has a hands-on approach to patent matters that leverages knowledge gained from his academic training as an electrical engineer, five years of experience as a patent agent and technical adviser before he became an attorney, and the prosecution of more than 100 patent applications.

He has broad experience in the aerospace, electronics, and medical device industries, and his patent work has included medical devices, drones, spacecraft, battery charger systems, computer software and hardware, and cell phones. He has advised on patents for clients ranging from solo inventors to Fortune 500 companies.

Michael represents clients in all aspects of prosecuting and protecting patents.

He also guides clients through the complex procedures of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, including ex parte and inter partes re-examinations, and inter partes review proceedings under the America Invents Act.

As a registered U.S. patent attorney, Michael not only prosecutes patents but also counsels clients on the long-range protection and monetization of their intellectual property, including portfolio management, expansion planning and due diligence matters.
