McAndrews Named By Corporate INTL Magazine 2014 Global Awards Panel As ‘Patents Law Firm of the Year – Illinois’
02.13.14
CHICAGO, IL – February 13, 2014 – McAndrews Held & Malloy recently announced that the firm has been chosen by Corporate INTL Magazine as the Patent Law Firm of the Year in Illinois among its 2014 Global Award winners. It is the first time the law firm has been chosen for this award. The Corp INTL Global Awards have been given to a variety of businesses worldwide since 2008.
Corporate INTL’s Global Awards process begins with its research department conducting extensive reviews, drawing insight from business leaders, advisers and investors throughout the world and accepts recommendations from parties outside the magazine to create a shortlist of finalists in each category. Global Awards Manager Emma Sweeney stated in correspondence to the firm’s Founding Partner and Chairman Emeritus George McAndrews in November 2013, “In particular, we have spent the past three months working through tens of thousands of nomination forms that we have received back from the following sources:
- The readership of Corporate INTL Magazine, which is distributed to over 70,000 individuals each month, all of which are either investors in business, leaders of companies or advisers for those businesses on a global and domestic level;
- Over 250,000 individual partners of law firms and accountants;
- Over 200,000 in-house counsel of businesses operating publicly and privately, varying in size from SME to leading publicly listed companies;
- Our database of over 100,000 CFO’s, CEO’s and directors of medium-large sized businesses;
- Over 250,000 SME business management teams;
- Over 30,000 business consultants and financial advisers; and
- The financial community, investment managers, private equity investors, investment bankers, hedge fund managers, business bankers, asset-based lenders and wealthy individuals.”
Specifically, the Corporate INTL independent research and editorial team then conducts detailed research to create a “shortlist” of up to five potential winners in each of its award categories. The shortlisted businesses are then carefully scrutinized by type of services provided, service range, business type, geographical location, how the business operates and the expertise each team can offer to companies doing business in their vertical market(s) and geographical area. The shortlisted firms are then reviewed by an independent awards panel in each country with the eventual winners chosen by that independent panel.
In responding to the firm’s selection as the top Patent Law Firm in Illinois, McAndrews Shareholder and Firm President Robert A. Surrette said, “We spend so much of our time ensuring our clients’ success that we rarely take the time to acknowledge our own success. We are thrilled to have been selected by the Corp INTL awards panel, and we intend to live up to the judging criteria in all that we do.”
