Gene Volchenko AssociateGene Volchenko is an Associate at McAndrews, where he focuses on intellectual property litigation and transactional matters. Gene has experience in pre-suit investigations and assessment, motion practice, and advanced legal research. Gene graduated from Chicago-Kent College of Law. While in law school, Gene was the Treasurer of the Intellectual Property Law Society, and was an Associate Editor of the college’s Journal of Intellectual Property. He also volunteered at Chicago-Kent’s Patent Hub, where he acted as a liaison between underfunded inventors and pro-bono attorneys and helped clients with patentability questions and prior art research. In addition, Gene worked as a Judicial Extern to the Honorable Patricia O’Brien Sheahan at the Circuit Court of Cook County-Law Division, where he gained experience in court proceedings and judicial opinion drafting. Prior to law school, Gene worked as an R&D Intern at Baxter International Inc., where he worked on a simplified EEG device that would detect altered mental status, alert hospital staff, and reduce the number of cardiac arrests and emergency codes within hospitals. Gene graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago with a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering in 2019.
