McAndrews, Held & Malloy shareholder Ronald A. DiCerbo and associate Guy W. Barcelona Jr. have been invited to speak at Managing Intellectual Property magazine’s “IP in Asia Forum” in Seattle on May 30. Managing Intellectual Property is also hosting the IP in Asia Forum on May 28 in Silicon Valley, where McAndrews shareholders Christopher V. Carani and Kirk A. Vander Leest will also present. McAndrews, Held & Malloy is also a sponsor at this year’s Forum.

The IP in Asia Forum will examine the most pressing challenges and opportunities for U.S. companies looking for profitable IP management in Asia. The panel sessions will provide insights and guidance on topics such as legal trends and developments in China, Japan and South Korea, IP enforcement issues and IP monetization and licensing. Attendees can expect to leave the Forum with a better understanding of how to secure trademark rights in Asia, the effects of the new trademark laws coming into effect in China, and how to combat trademark infringement and the exportation of counterfeit goods in Asia.

Ronald A. DiCerbo’s practice concentrates on the acquisition and enforcement of intellectual property rights. He has successfully assisted large and small companies develop their intellectually property portfolios in U.S. and internationally. In so doing, DiCerbo has acquired extensive experience in the area of U.S. and international trademark law. He has represented clients in domestic and international trademark prosecution, in all levels of U.S. Courts, in proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board at the United States Patent and Trademark Office, and in trademark disputes in Europe, China, Australia, South Africa and South America.

Guy W. Barcelona Jr. has significant experience in the development of patent and trademark (including trade dress) portfolios, including in China. He also has hands-on experience in high stakes enforcement efforts, across broad technological and business areas. Barcelona provides ongoing advice to a Fortune 100 company and a top 15 registrant at the United States Trademark Office. He regularly consults with international associates in Asia and around the globe to develop protection strategies for global brands.  As part of his diverse practice, he has advised clients regarding opposition and cancellation proceedings both internationally and domestically before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board at the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Prior to joining McAndrews, Barcelona received awards for top academic performance and was elected into the Order of John Marshall at The John Marshall Law School in Chicago. He also holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University.
