McAndrews, Held & Malloy Attorney Dunstan H. Barnes, Ph.D., to Speak on the Hague System at the World Intellectual Property Organization

CHICAGO, IL- October 31, 2017- McAndrews, Held & Malloy attorney Dunstan H. Barnes, Ph.D., is scheduled to speak at the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) seminar on the Hague System for the International Registration of Industrial Designs, Thursday, November 2. Dr. Barnes will present on U.S. practice involving design protections of graphical user interfaces (GUIs).

This one-day seminar focuses on the activities of The Hague Registry and will cover the advantages of the Hague System for the International Registration of Industrial Designs, specifically geographical expansion. The day will consist of presentations regarding the lifecycle of international registration and e-tools, as well as the designation of Japan, the Republic of Korea and the United States of America.

Dr. Barnes focuses his practice on protecting and analyzing design rights, including drafting and prosecuting design patent applications, and conducting opinion work and due diligence investigations. Dr. Barnes also has experience drafting and prosecuting trademark applications and utility patent applications in a wide range of technological fields and industries.
