McAndrews Shareholder Scott P. McBride Invited to Share His Patent Law Knowledge with Students at the University of Illinois College of Law

On November 11, 2014, shareholder Scott P. McBride will be a guest speaker in the “Patent Research and Strategy” course at the University of Illinois College of Law. McBride was invited by Adjunct Faculty Professor Chirag Shah, who was impressed by McBride’s expertise in the emerging AIA trials and patent law office practice.
McBride will present on Trials before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB). He will speak in conjunction with Trent B. Ostler, a patent attorney at Venable LLP and Founder of PatentBoardFerret.
At McAndrews, McBride’s practice focuses primarily on the litigation and trial of patent and complex technology cases in federal courts and before the International Trade Commission, review proceedings before the PTAB, and reexamination proceedings before the Patent Office. He works with a wide array of businesses, particularly medical device and pharmaceutical companies. McBride helps clients to resolve disputes and make adjustments to their patent strategies in order to better protect their investments.
The Patent Research and Strategy course is designed to provide students the analytical and methodological framework to analyze patent data for legal, technical and business insights. Students are expected to understand how to search for relevant patent data, aggregate and analyze the data within a defined metric and present their findings and conclusions in a written report.
