Christian H. Hallerud AssociateChristian Hallerud is an Associate at McAndrews. He focuses on intellectual property litigation, including proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board, and patent prosecution. His work has involved technology areas including mechanical, electrical, and industrial devices. Christian graduated magna cum laude from the University of Illinois College of Law. While there, Christian was an articles editor for the Journal of Law, Technology & Policy. The journal published his note, “Ask What Your Country Can Do for Itself: Examining the FTC Merger and Acquisition Policy’s Effects on Innovation in the Defense Industry,” which examines antitrust review of defense contractor mergers and acquisitions. Christian received the CALI Award for earning the highest grade in Introduction to Intellectual Property and later served as the teaching assistant for the class. During his final semester, he worked for the College of Law’s First Amendment Clinic, where he represented clients in Freedom of Information Act litigation and helped prepare an oral argument for an appeal of a trademark matter before the Sixth Circuit. While completing law school, Christian worked at the firm as a summer associate. Prior to law school, Christian attended Purdue University and received a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering. EDUCATION
