Michael J. Weil AssociateMichael Weil is an Associate at McAndrews focusing on intellectual property and patent litigation. He also has substantial patent prosecution experience. He has a technical background in biology, chemistry, and physics, and his practice spans a variety of fields, including medical devices, surgical instruments, medical-grade packaging, software systems, the Internet of Things, point-of-sale systems, fuel tank systems, and agricultural manufacturing equipment. In addition to patent matters, Michael helps clients with filing, maintaining, and clearing trademarks. Michael is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA) IP Section Council and serves on committees for the Intellectual Property Law Association of Chicago (IPLAC) and the Illinois Intellectual Property Alliance (ILIPA). He has also lectured for The Decalogue Society of Lawyers. Michael received his J.D. from Fordham University School of Law, where he was on the Dean’s List and awarded the Archibald R. Murray Award for Public Service. While at Fordham, he served as a mediator in New York City’s civil court and edited Fordham’s Intellectual Property Law Journal. As an undergraduate, Michael attended Brandeis University where he graduated cum laude. In his free time, Michael is an avid reader, sports enthusiast, guitar player, and golfer. EDUCATION
