Rami Moussa is a Shareholder at McAndrews. He joined the firm in 2007 as a Technology Specialist, and become an Associate in 2009 after graduating from DePaul University College of Law. Rami focuses his practice on strategic patent portfolio development, with an emphasis on patent prosecution, primarily in the electrical and computer sciences.  In assisting clients in developing patent portfolios, Rami has drafted and prosecuted more than 200 patent applications before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, in such fields as existing and next-generation wired and wireless communications systems and technologies; computer hardware and software; imaging, video, and audio processing; and cryptography.

Prior to joining McAndrews, Rami worked at Motorola. There, he was engaged in a wide range of projects encompassing many of Motorola’s GSM, GPRS, and UMTS infrastructure systems and test tools, primarily developing software solutions for several standard-based (3GPP) features and functionalities.  As a software engineer, Rami’s experience spanned many commonly used languages and techniques. He wrote the core software implementing NAS layer and helped implement various components of the L3 layer for a mobile simulator used in the course of Motorola’s development of the first UMTS system, which was utilized in initial customer demos during 2000-2001.  Rami also developed highly automated platforms that allowed execution of complex and previously unavailable test scenarios.  In 2005, Rami served as on-site technical lead in Chengdu, China during a six-month expatriate assignment.
