Stephanie Samz is a Shareholder at McAndrews. Stephanie has a wide range of intellectual property experience, including freedom to operate analyses, opinion work, competitive IP analysis, post-grant proceedings, license drafting, and trade secret program development. A major component of her practice involves providing clearance opinions for clients relating to new products and devices. She routinely conducts both non-infringement and invalidity analyses as well as landscape analyses. She is experienced in a wide range of technologies, including nutritionals and medical devices.

Stephanie also has significant patent litigation experience, including pre-suit investigation and assessment, motion practice, summary judgment practice, all phases of discovery, and trial preparation. She has worked on numerous appeals before the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. She has experience in all stages of the appellate process, including drafting appellate briefs, drafting amicus submissions, and preparing for oral arguments. Stephanie was also part of the team that successfully represented a client before the United States Supreme Court on the issue of enhanced damages for patent infringement. Her work helped to reinstate the client’s award of treble damages.

Prior to joining McAndrews, Stephanie attended the University of Illinois College of Law where she graduated summa cum laude.
