Stephanie F. Samz ShareholderStephanie Samz is a Shareholder at McAndrews and has significant experience in a wide range of patent and trademark litigation and counseling. Her practice focuses mainly on patent litigation, particularly litigation involving medical devices and other medical technology. She has worked with medical technologies as varied as bone cleaning technology, drug-eluting stents, fracture fixation systems and spinal surgical procedures. Her litigation work includes pre-suit investigation and assessment, motion practice (including summary judgment practice), all phases of discovery, and trial preparation. She also has been involved in numerous appeals before the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and has experience in drafting appellate briefs and preparing for oral arguments. In addition to patent litigation, her practice also involves advising clients on trademark and copyright matters. Prior to joining McAndrews, Stephanie attended the University of Illinois College of Law where she graduated summa cum laude. In law school, Stephanie was a member of the University of Illinois Law Review where she served as the Writing Competition Coordinator. Stephanie’s student note, Willful Patent Infringement: Theoretically Sound? A Proposal to Restore Willful Infringement to its Proper Place within Patent Law, was selected as the best law review note at the College of Law. In addition to her involvement with law review, Stephanie received CALI Awards for superior academic achievement in numerous classes. In her third year of law school, Stephanie received Rickert Awards for Excellence in Legal Writing and Excellence in Academics. The Rickert Awards Program is the most prestigious and extensive awards program at the College of Law. Upon graduation, Stephanie was elected into the Order of the Coif. EDUCATION
