Applications for the George P. McAndrews Technical Fellowship of 2025 are open! For the year 2025, we will have the applications open until Feb. 1st.
The George P. McAndrews Technical Fellowship will be awarded to one qualified 1L student who is interested in pursuing a career in IP law in Chicago and possesses an eligible degree in science or engineering in either of the following technical fields:
- Undergraduate (or greater) degrees in electrical or computer engineering
- Master’s degrees (or greater) in biochemistry or life science fields (e.g., organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, etc.)
In addition to a competitive summer associate salary, the recipient will receive a fellowship of $15,000.
The recipient will gain valuable experience in patent litigation in federal district courts, administrative tribunals, and the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals, as well as in patent prosecution, due diligence, licensing, and intellectual property transactions. To facilitate the individual’s professional growth and learning, senior-level attorneys at McAndrews will serve as mentors to the recipient, who will also be eligible to receive an offer to return to McAndrews for the firm’s 2L summer associate experience.
